MISSION

The mission of Holarctic Bridge is to link the existing gaps in knowledge and approaches in the conservation of wildlife and biodiversity of natural ecosystems between different countries through cooperation and consultation services in the area of environmental safeguarding, conservation science and sustainability, sharing knowledge and raising awareness.

We provide consulting services in the area of ecosystems and biodiversity conservation: Developing innovative methodological approaches and decision-making tools to facilitate integration of biodiversity and ecosystem services in environmental management and planning in developing countries.

3. Evaluating the role of ecosystem services in the adaptation of community groups and other stakeholders to changing environment (in particular, climate change), introducing ecosystem-based adaptation and other modern tools.
4. Application of safeguard policies in the development projects, including EA, EIA, ESA, ESIA, SESA and other evaluation mechanisms.
5. Introduction of mitigation hierarchy and valued environmental and social component approach in the development projects.
6. Institutional analysis and capacity building of the environmental NGOs.
7. Conservation planning and management.

We deliver support in organizing training seminars, webinars and preparation of guidelines, manuals and handbooks relevant to environmental issues and biodiversity conservation and sustainable management. Improve knowledge the role of ecosystem services to engage all citizens in their conservation and management.

1. Share new knowledge and finding of advanced science and innovative philosophies aimed to ensure sustainable development and economic growth dictated by social foundation and environmental “boundaries” (Rockstrom et al., 2009, K. Raworth, 2012, J. Sachs, 2015, etc.).
2. Bridging gaps between basic biological science and applied management science to effective management tools for wildlife species and ecosystems.
3. Practical application of safeguarding tools and policies in sectoral projects (agriculture, infrastructure development, etc.).
4. Exploring application of new tools such as BIOFIN (Financing of biodiversity through engagement of local communities) at the national and local levels in developing countries.

We support awareness raising in area of natural resources and biodiversity conservation and sustainable management, using such tools as:

1. Dissemination of educative materials on conservation biology.
2. Cooperation and development partnerships between conservation initiatives, scientists, managers and other stakeholders in the area of wildlife management.
3. Organization of national, regional and local meetings and workshops relevant to conservation and sustainable management of natural resources (preparation of relevant materials, lectures and presentations).
4. Help to grassroots and national NGOs in developing countries to promote positive incentives for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
5. Promotion of participatory approach in conservation and sustainable use of land and
   biodiversity.

To support in implementation of conservation projects in developing countries we start the initiative on engagement of wildlife photographers in biodiversity conservation, based on principle that “The beauty will save the world” (F. Dostoevsky): Creating the tool to advertise and sell virtual products relevant to biodiversity, engaging professional wildlife photographers from developed and developing countries.

1. Sale of calendars, books, post-cards, posters and other products to raise funds for biodiversity conservation projects in developing countries.
2. Business for biodiversity conservation: photographers and other website users may sell photos and other relevant production from our website, commissioning 20% of income from each sale for conservation programs.
