This is a guided tour for those who want to know more about mushrooms in Ottawa Valley. The middle of July is a time when the first summer edible mushrooms appear in forests. We hope to see several species of chanterelles and we'll try to learn how to identify edible and poisonous species of mushrooms.
Early August is a time when the first bird migrants start to move to the south: ruby-throated hummingbirds are among those migrants. This is also a time when you can observe some tiny amphibians (spring peepers and grey tree-frog) hunting insects from tall perennial plants... This is a guided tour for those who are interested to know more about fall mushrooms and nature in Ottawa Valley. We plan to go to the Mayo area, Quebec. We'll visit the area, which is known as good for mushroom harvest, including many various species. At this time, we expect to find a diversity of Oyster Mushrooms, some boletes, perhaps, some honey mushrooms, some milk caps, and russula species.
This is an excursion for everyone who wants to learn more about nature in the Ottawa River Valley in a small nature reserve located near the town of Pakenham. There are many well-marked trails in the reserve, crossing different types of natural forest ecosystems. We will try to follow several trails to cover areas of forest and wetlands, exploring fauna and flora of the nature reserve.
Gatineau Park is an amazing place to explore at any age. We select the simple trail this time, which should be interesting for kids and parents. If we'll be lucky, we'll have a chance to see some interesting birds, salamanders, and frogs near the trail.
We invite nature enthusiasts to join us to explore several natural areas around Almonte. We hope to visit several types of habitats, including forest, agricultural and open ecosystems.
